She Makes Herself Ready

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” Revelation 19:7

The morning was spent with laughter and regaling stories from years of friendship.  Fingers and toes brushed in hot water and salts, then buffed and painted gleamed in the early morning light.

Next the hair, bubble caressed and wind blow wild, then tamed with irons hot, twisted, folded, pinned tightly and jeweled. Her woman glory then crowned with a veil.

Arms over head, she bows, and the dress, white and beautiful without spot or wrinkle, cascades down her slender body.

Staring into the mirror, her mind wanders for a moment with thoughts of the day, thoughts of the past and future.  Perhaps caught a little off guard by the realization of her beauty as a bride.

A squeal from one of the bridesmaids interrupts her thoughts with news that the groomsmen and groom have arrived.  One guards her from peeking as the others crowd the window laughing and waving, with tease and excitement.

Flowers arrive, her maid of honor places the garter and the bride has readied herself for he groom.

The last to leave the room, she takes one long glance back – all her life she prepared for a life with him, and dreamed of the day when her groom will take his stand before the minister, family and friends waiting and longing for her arrival.

And with a smile and confidence she enters the great hall.

Gorgeous, Di. I wish our Bridegroom would come today. It’d save me from cleaning out these closets 😉
