On Fridays over here a group of people who love to throw caution to the wind and just write gather to share what five minutes buys them. Just five minutes. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

Today’s Word Is IDENTITY.

Ready? Go!

What is my identity ?  I can not even try to tell you.  I’m a mother, teacher, hygienist, wife, inventor, writer, artist…the list goes on.

I have no identity until I come in contact with you.  To you I may be a friend, and encourager.  I may be likeable, or unlikable.  My identity may be intelligent, or dumb as a box of rocks.

To some I’m Gigi, Mom, daughter, wife, sister.

I know a lot of things I can do.  But who I am depends on what you need, or what I need.  The situation defines my identity.

The best measure of who I am, is to ask you, Who am I to you?

I think it is a valid question, from a reasonable point of view.

Part of who I am is a good friend…most of the time.  Do you need a friend?  Maybe for our situation, my identity is, Friend.

The situation defines my identity. I understand, it calls out of me what is required. But I’m struggling with a deeper identity, my identity in Christ and who he is and all he has for me that should not change (like shifting shadows) with the circumstances. Ah, I trust you’ll try to understand me and believe me when I thank you for writing this!

Highheartedly, I do understand what you are saying. I think we put so much responsibility on ourselves to figure it all out. But for me God seems to love, and find joy the pursut of things. Like an Easter Egg Hunt. We would laugh and run. Then ask for someone to hide the eggs again for us.

It is our job to keep our joy in the hunt. But it is God’s job to Boil the eggs, dye them, hide them and then journey with us as we run. Give yourself a hug from me. You will find who you are in Christ, and I have no doubt that you will discover that you are the Golden Egg.

      Blessings On you!!
