My Gift of Words to My Husband

The way he thinks is so different from me.

His logic, and observations catch me off guard.  The way he loves me unlike anyone I’ve ever known, love that is unconditional, yet unafraid to discuss difficult subjects.

He listens, though he has difficulty hearing.  He knows my behavior and can read my mood before I realize that I have a mood.

I know the way he likes his coffee.  Bringing it to him as he prepares for work is a small gift I can give to him.

I honor him by listening to what he knows, without interrupting.  That is not always easy, I can be very opinionated.

I honor him by bringing discipline to my life that will set an example for the children of who they would like to be, or who they would like to marry.

We honor each other by not being a vacuum of need.

We both laugh too loudly, then gesture to the each other to tone it down.

We honor each other by not pressing down our gifts, or ideas.

He is the pilot, I am the co-pilot, we are both necessary, we compliment each other.

There were times when we both had the thought, that calling it quits might be easier.  Step-families are not for the tender of hide. But quitters never win, and winners never quit.

This Christmas I am thankful for the gift of Christ, family, and my husband; and the characteristics of Christ I see in him.

Such a timely reminder! All too often I get caught up in the responsibilities of the moment and miss the things my husband does to show me his love. When I stop to think about it, I realize that my husband too is an example of Christ's love to me and our family each and every day.

As I'm reading this my husband's feeding the cat and making his own cup of tea. Oops, no computer before he goes to the market.

Your words reveal that you and your man are different, but also alike. I think those make the best kind of unions. Thank you for sharing these words from your heart.

Thank you Brandee, one day I may tell the whole story, but for now, we are very different and draw strengths from our differences. Hope your week if full of Images of Life with the Lover of your Soul.

I love that you think intentionally about “honoring” your husband with your heart and acts of loving service and attention. Your husband must be a very blessed man. Thanks for motivating me to honor my husband too!

I have one like this, too. One who “can read my mood before I realize that I have a mood.”

    Smiling. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your post with The High Calling and Getting Down With Jesus communities.
