Grow

Today I join the Gypsy Mama for Five Minute Friday with the prompt, Grow.  Writing briefly from the overflow of the heart. For fun, for love of the sound of words, for play, for delight, for joy and celebration at the art of communication.
For only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not. Won’t you join in the fun!

Grow
I love the trees that grow in our yard, especially in the fall when all the colors come together to bid summer, farewell.  Each year the colors are different, sometimes more brown, or yellow, but this year the orange and reds came out more, thrilling me with jewel tones along my walk.
Their roots, I’ve been told, grow  twice as deep as their heights.  How strong they are to defy gravity and the elements year after year.  Pressing their limbs upward, and swaying in the wind is their act of worship.
During the storms the trees are  where the birds go for shelter.  Little woven cups of twigs and threads can be seen from the ground.
More impressive still are squirrels with their nest being the largest of them all.  Large trays of pine and branches cradle their young ones in the highest tree top, never fearing a fall.  Trusting the trees to hold them safe.
We should grow more bird and squirrel like, resting peacefully in the hands of the Father, as the winds of this world blow.

Hi Diane,This is my first visit to your blog. I came over from 5 Minute Friday. Loved your sharing on Grow. I shared right after you :)I am a HUGE tree person so what you shared just blessed my heart. From my home-office window is a beautiful tree that a squirrel and her family have made their own. She runs all around her property for the last 1.5 years. At times she will join us on our back patio. She has slightly torn the screen that wraps around our pool so that she could find a way in. I enjoyed what you shared. I look forward to getting to know you more. God bless!Lisa

Thanks Diane! I'm sure we will. I'm going to try to get a photo of my squirrel. If I do, I'll share it with you. She is so meticulous about everything she does. I love it!
